Gayla’s Trip to the zoo.

I thought it was worth writing about our experience with me taking the boys to the zoo. It was rather downcast and drizzly which was to our benefit because it kept a lot of people away. We visited a few of the animals and since it wasn’t scorching hot they were out and active. We had lunch and then went to the bird show which was fun. We walked around for a while afterwards seeing some more animals like the giraffes and the “Ghost of the bayou” otherwise known as an albino crocodile. There are only 10 in the world.

After a Bubble Gum snow drink which Scott promptly dropped we decided that we had been there a while and wanted to ride the train and play in the playground.

We cruised up the lane to the children’s play area and meandered around the little hills and tunnels and just had gotten to the fish pond when I turned around to do a head count and discovered that Tim was no longer there. I promptly backtracked and didn’t find him there either. I started to get nervous and located a park attendant informing her that I could not find my 3 year old. I didn’t see him in the playground so I started enlarging my search area and began that horrible maternal thing where you start thinking worse case scenarios like someone took him and put a wig on him or cut his hair or something similar as a diversions as they took him out of the park. With that in mind I decided that I would go to the front gates to alert them of any foul play. As I neared the front, there standing by the First Aid office was Tim with an attendant and a nice man and his two sons who had obviously found him and brought him there. They said he was standing by the train. After collecting my wits and reminding Tim of the talk we had about staying put if they loose me, we went back toward the play ground. Just after passing the train tracks Dallin starts screaming and saying something about his arm. I’m looking at it and wondering what in the world he did and why didn’t I see anything happen. Finally it came out that he got stung by a bee. Back to the First Aid office we go! After two catastrophes and fearing that they would probably kick me out if I showed up at the First Aid Office again we quickly rode the train and played on the playground and decided to leave after Dallin had a melt down when his fruit roll-up got squished up. On the way home, Dallin said that that was the funniest time he ever had and that he loved the train and even the bee sting. Figure that one out.

I remember when we lost Andrew at Circus Circus. The triplets were about 2, and the twins were about 5. We had all of our luggage, and didn’t have enought hands to control all of the children. There were thousands of people milling about. Andrew left the group and started wandering the casino floor. Ladell herded the other children off into a corner, and I set search. A very memorable experience. Your next memorable experience will be when you leave someone at a gas station . . . .
